Dave MacIntyre,var scotica's founder, is a professional arborist with over 15 years' experience of caring for veteran trees – some over 1000 years old – in Germany and Switzerland. He was at the forefront in introducing to Europe low intervention tree care techniques, developed in the US, which work with the tree's biology. var scotica believe that every tree is a unique plant which, like other garden or landscape features, can benefit from individual attention and expert care. Many factors can affect trees' health in the urban environment, but often simple improvements in soil conditions and proper pruning techniques will keep them healthy and safe.

Our services include

Crown pruning and thinning. An "MOT" for the tree, retaining its overall form. Removal of dead wood and limbs to make the tree safer.
Safe removal of dead or dangerous trees in enclosed areas; In confined spaces dead or dangerous trees often have to be taken down in sections eg a large limb over a roof top.
